Deposed Egyptian president Muhammed Morsi was sentenced to additional 15 years in prison Saturday afternoon following a guilty verdict for treason.
The Cairo criminal court convicted Morsi of facilitating the transfer of state secrets pertaining to Egypt's national security to Qatari based news agency Al Jazeera.
Morsi, who was removed from power in a military coup in 2011, was already serving a 25-year prison sentence for his role in the killing protestors opposing his political agenda in the Egyptian capital, extending his overall sentence to 40 years.
