Former Galilee Division commander Brig.-Gen. Imad Faris was officially dismissed from the IDF on Thursday night in a meeting with IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Faris, one of the army's highest-ranking Druse officers, admitting to lying in a car accident report last year.

He intends to appeal the High Court of Justice against his dismissal.
