Former Jerusalem police chief Mickey Levy said Friday that Israeli authorities were not yet involved in the huge corruption scandal spanning from New York to Israel, in which five rabbis have been arrested, but wasn't ruling out such cooperation at a later stage in the probe. Speaking to Israel Radio, he also stressed that there was "no investigation against the Jewish community, only against alleged criminals." The rabbis were charged with laundering tens of millions of dollars through charities in the US and Israel. Another Jewish suspect was accused of selling Israeli donors' kidneys for up to $160,000.
