Former US secretary of state Eagleburger dies at 80

Former US secretary of state Lawrence Eagleburger passed away at the age of 80 on Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia after a short illness, the Associated Press reported.

Eagleburger served as secretary of state for five months in 1992 during the presidency of George H.W. Bush.

US President Barack Obama and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton paid tribute to Eagleburger upon hearing of his death.
