Four trampled to death by wild elephant in southern India

Four people were trampled to death by an elephant in India's southern Coimbatore city on Friday.
The elephant entered Vellalore village in the early hours of Friday and went around attacking people, including a 12-year-old girl.
Forest department personnel brought in a 'Kumki' (Tamil word for trained elephants) elephant to chase its wild counterpart back into the forest.
The increasing human population has depleted the habitat of wild animals like leopards and elephants, thus forcing them to stray into human settlements in search of food and shelter - attacking people and cattle - and often getting killed in return.
