CAIRO - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's forces bombarded the Western Libyan city of Misrata on Monday, a rebel spokesman told Al Jazeera television.

Snipers were on rooftops, Saadoun al-Misrati said.

Another rebel spokesman told al Arabiya television eight people were killed and more than 24 injured in the clashes between pro-Gaddafi forces and the rebels in the city.
