Gal-On: Netanyahu's refusal to save Channel 10 is 'dark day for democracy'

Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On called Netanyahu's lack of action to save financially stricken Channel 10, "a dark day for democracy."

"Like a typical bully, Netanyahu is using the final moments of his term to slam freedom of expression one last time, and allow an Israeli television station with its hundreds of workers to close, just because its viewpoints do not align with his right-wing regime," she said.

Gal-On accused Netanyahu of fearing Channel 10 for being a news outlet, "that does not make life easy for any government, that criticizes, raises doubts, and that works to serve the broad public interest by uncovering corruption without fear."
