Gal-on: New gov't as bad as last on human rights

Meretz leader Zehava Gal-on criticized the government on Monday saying that it was "a direct continuation of the previous government as far as the issues of human rights and democracy are concerned in Israel."
Speaking at a Meretz faction meeting, Gal-on said that "the rabbis control the army, decide who can be buried, and who we must obey. The settlers decide where we build and the tycoons decide on spending cuts."
Gal-on added that "the extreme right controls the Foreign Ministry and isolates Israel, and racism gives us our tone on how we deal with asylum-seekers and non-Jews."
