Construction and Housing Minister and security cabinet member Yoav Gallant said that a stronghold in the Judea and Samaria is in Israel's best security interest. Gallant spoke at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference on Wednesday.

"We cannot give a centimeter in the west side of the Jordan valley," Gallant said. "There is no room for two settlements or two authorities," he added. "There is no other possibility but full Israel control [in Judea and Samaria]."

When asked about former defense minister Avigdor Liberman's decision to resign from his role, Gallant said that "the decision was done for political reasons and not for military and national security reasons. And it's a pity."
