Plea deal for girl involved in mob attack on Arab youth

Prosecutors in Jerusalem have reached a plea bargain with a young girl involved in a mob assault on an Arab man in the capital, according to media reports.

The incidents took place last August in the neighborhood of Nahalat Shiv'a. A Palestinian youth, Jamil Julani, was accosted and beaten by a gang of young Jews. He suffered serious injuries to his neck as a result of the beating.

As part of the plea agreement, the young girl plead guilty to aggravated assault motivated by racial animus. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges related to incitement to racism. Both sides failed to reach agreement on an appropriate punishment. The Jerusalem District Court is expected to rule on the matter soon.
