Just more than a year after IDF officer Hila Betzaleli was killed when a light structure on a stage at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem fell on her during preparations for an Independence Day event, her grandfather  took his own life in Ashkelon on Wednesday.

The 74-year-old grandfather of Bezaleli jumped out of the window of his home and plummeted to his death.

MDA paramedics arrived at the scene and attempted to resuscitate him, but were forced to pronounce him dead on the scene.

Hila Betzaleli was 20-years-old at the time of her death last year.
