The welfare of Gaza's residents, not violent "so-called protests," should be Gaza's top priority, US envoy Jason Greenblatt wrote on Twitter on Thursday, ahead of the one-year anniversary of the weekly protests.
"It's been one year since Hamas’ so-called protests began which urge Palestinians to engage in violence & use Palestinians as human shields," he wrote. "The welfare and safety of the Palestinian people, not violence, SHOULD be the top priority in Gaza."
Palestinians are expected to protest en mass along the Gaza border fence on Friday, marking a full year since such protests began.
