Welfare and Social Services Minister Haim Katz has been appointed interim prime minister, during the time Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be on an official visit in Chad next week.

According to a statement released by the Likud, Katz will head the minister's committee on issues relating to national security during Netanyahu's absence. In case of a need of a government meeting during that time, Tourism Minister Yariv Levin was appointed to head the meeting.
