Hauser: Proximity talks only a corridor to true peace talks

Proximity talks are a corridor to direct talks in which issues will be resolved, Cabinet Secretary Zvi Hauser said on Thursday evening in the wake of a growing crisis between the US and Israel over the stagnant Middle East peace process.
Speaking to Channel 10 from Ben Gurion Airport upon his return from Washington, Hauser said those who are truly interested in peace must be able to sit down together in a room and discuss all obstacles to a final-status agreement.
"We must find a golden path," he said, referring to a solution in which both US demands and Israeli principles would not be compromised in the quest for peace. He added that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington was not a mistake.
