Herzog: Netanyahu must seize opportunity to work with Arab powers

Opposition leader Izaac Herzog (Labor) stated on Sunday, "We are at a very complicated crossroads and it is still difficult to make out the results."
The opposition leader pointed out that if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu does not seize the opportunity to increase cooperation between Israel and regional Arab powers who share a common interest in resolving the conflict, a new round of violence could ensue.
"The threat posed by [terror] tunnels has been diminished, but peace has not been guaranteed," said Herzog, adding that military gains need to be made permanent by diplomatic measures.
"The campaign in Gaza has created a unique opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties with the Arab countries in the region looking to restore peace and order in the Middle East," stressed Herzog, including efforts being led by Egypt and the Palestinian Authority.
