Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah on Friday welcomed Russia's military buildup in Syria in support of their mutual ally, President Bashar Assad.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview with Al-Manar TV it was the failure of a US-led campaign to defeat Islamic State that had pushed Russia to become directly involved in the conflict.
