Hiroshima mayor urges world to support Obama plan to abolish nuclear arms

Hiroshima's mayor urged the world to back US President Barack Obama's call to abolish nuclear weapons. Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba spoke Thursday on the 64th anniversary of the atomic bomb attack that devastated his city and killed hundreds of thousands. Akiba said there is a global "Obamajority" of individuals that want to eliminate nuclear weapons, and called for their complete abolishment by 2020. An estimated 140,000 people were killed instantly or died within a few months after the American B-29 bomber named the Enola Gay dropped its deadly payload on Aug. 6, 1945.
