The Ministerial Committee for Ceremonies and Symbols announced Thursday that Col. Shai Siman Tov who was injured in the 2014 Gaza war will light the IDF's torch at the 71st Independence Day celebrations.

Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi recommended Siman Tov to the committee headed by Sport and Culture Minister Miri Regev.
