IDF General Staff completes surprise drill simulating Syrian escalation

The IDF General Staff completed a surprise drill on Wednesday in Northern Command, simulating a security escalation on the Syrian border. During the drill, infantry, special forces, and many air units were scrambled.
The forces simulated ways to protect the Golan Heights from rockets and missiles, and how to respond to cross-border fire on IDF units.
The military also practiced how to integrate forces, and ways of fusing together technology and intelligence.
"The goal of the exercise is to improve the operational readiness of forces in the area for sudden incidents," the IDF Spokesman Unit said. The IDF stressed that the exercise was planned ahead of time as part of the annual training program for 2016.
