The Iron Dome rocket defense system has intercepted more than 80 rockets fired into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip since the IDF launched an operation to root out terror in the coastal territory on Wednesday, the IDF Spokesman's Office said Thursday.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak praised the effectiveness of the Iron Dome in protesting Israel's citizens on Thursday, but cautioned that it could not provide 100 percent protection.
