IDF field hospital in Philippines delivers first baby, boy named Israel

The first baby born at the Israeli Defense Forces field hospital in Bogo City in the Philippines was delivered safely on Thursday. The mother named the boy Israel.

The IDF sent a delegation to the Philippines to aid in rescue and relief in the wake of super-typhoon Haiyan.

According to the IDF Spokesman's Office, a field hospital was built and is able to treat 500 people at a time. The hospital includes an x-ray room and birthing facilities.

Additionally, the IDF will be helping restore infrastructure with electricians and other professionals.
