IDF seeks elite soldier missing during training course

IDF and police forces have been seeking a soldier who went missing during an elite unit training course in the south since Thursday morning.
When the course ended around 5:00 a.m. Thursday, one of the unit's soldiers didn't return from the exercise. Soldiers began seeking the missing man with the aid of an IDF helicopter.
Connection with the soldier was lost during the night, which makes it unlikely dehydration was the cause. The unit was training in a forested area in the south which covers some 8,000 dunam.
Two years ago a soldier from the elite unit Sayeret Matkal, Tamir Naboani, was killed during a solo navigation exercise after falling off a 15-meter cliff. Solo navigation is part of the advanced training of elite infantry units.
