IDF soldier killed in base accident in the Golan Heights

Corporal Vicheslav Georgi, a soldier in the IDF, was killed Monday evening in an accident while performing routine maintenance on a Namer heavily armored vehicle at El Poran base in the Golan Heights.

The IDF Spokesman announced Monday evening that the soldier was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Georgi, a technician in a maintenance and technology unit, was 20 years old from Rishon Lezion

Head of the Northern command, Colonel Aviv Kohavi, appointed a committee lead by the Carmeli brigade to examine the case.

Military police have also launched an investigation into the incident's circumstances.

The IDF has notified Georgi's family, and extended their condolences.
