IDF soldier killed while clearing Israeli minefield

An IDF soldier was killed while taking part in the clearing of aminefield in the southern Golan Heights.
The soldier was of the Engineering Corps. His faily has been notified.
Ground Forces Commander Maj.-Gen. Guy Tzur appointed a committee ofinquiry to investigate the incident.
The mine exploded for unknown reasons during an advanced trainingphase of the Engineering Corps, a senior army source said.
The soldiers had found and exposed a number of mines, and marked themahead of their clearance. For an unknown reason, tone of the mineexploded, killing the soldier.
The mine was in full view of the soldiers and had been identified, thesource said.
The minefield in which the training occurred is Israeli, the source said.
