Israel Defense Forces soldiers manning positions near the security fence ringing the Gaza Strip shot a Palestinian who approached the barrier and acted suspiciously, the military's spokespersons department confirmed on Friday.

The army said two Palestinians were seen moving toward the fence, which is a restricted military zone. According to the IDF, the Palestinians were preoccupied with a suspicious object.

IDF troops then opened fire, aiming for the Palestinians' lower extremities. The army confirmed that one of the Palestinians was shot, though his condition remains unknown.
