IDF veterans establishing center for lone soldiers in Jerusalem

Citing an influx in soldiers serving in the military with families living abroad, a group of IDF veterans are establishing a center for lone soldiers in Jerusalem. The center will officially open next Monday in downtown Jerusalem and will offer advice, assistance and support to lone soldiers. The ceremony will coincide with the third anniversary of the death of St.-Sgt. Michael Levin, a lone soldier from the United States, who was killed during the Second Lebanon War. A lone soldier is a soldier who either has no contact with his/her parents or whose parents live abroad. This demographic receives special IDF attention and support, and the center, its directors said, would offer additional services to the soldiers. The Center for Lone Soldiers will work together with the Jerusalem Young Adults Center, which was created in 2006 to provide educational opportunities for the 160,000 young adults between the ages of 20-34 that live in Jerusalem.
