In response to Paraguay embassy move, PA initiating embassy in Asuncion

The Palestinian Authority announced on Wednesday that it has decided to immediately open a Palestinian embassy in Paraguay's capital, Asuncion, in appreciation of Paraguay's decision to move is embassy from Jerusalem back to Tel Aviv.

Paraguay Foreign Ministry decided to retract its previous decision to relocate its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Israel immediately called to recall the Israeli ambassador from Paraguay and close the embassy.

PA Foreign Minister Riad al-Maleki urged other countries to open embassies in Paraguay in appreciation of its "honorable" decision to move its embassy back to Tel Aviv.‭‮

Al-Maleki stated that the decision was made in part due to Palestinian pressure on the Paraguay president.
