TEHERAN, Iran — Iran's state radio says a man attempting to hijack a plane bound for Syria was arrested on board.

The radio says security guards on the Teheran-Damascus flight prevented the attempt and arrested the suspect. No one was hurt in the incident.

The report says an unspecified number of Iranian lawmakers were on the plane, en route to a parliamentary conference in Damascus.

Saturday's report did not identify the would-be hijacker or provide further details.
