Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Beirut, Lebanon for a formal visit on Sunday.

Zarif congratulated Lebanon's newly elected government, and promised that "Iran will continue to stand by Lebanon."

Zarif is expected to stay on Lebanon for two days, where he will meet Lebanese officials, including his counterpart, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
