An Iranian newspaper on Monday said Israel had taken a "cheap shot" at delegitimizing the Islamic Republic's recent "charm offensive" at the UN General Assembly by announcing the  arrest of an Iranian spy in Tel Aviv.

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on Sunday said it had arrested a Belgian national of Iranian origin who had been sent to Israel to set up an intelligence base for the Iranian regime.

"Since Israel is always trying to demonize Iran, the move came as no surprise," read an article published Monday in The Tehran Times.
