TEHERAN, Iran — Iran state television on Friday reported that exports to the United States more than doubled to $77 million in the first half of the Iranian calendar year.
According to the report, exports in last year's April-September period totaled $37 million.
The report quotes Deputy Economy Minister Ardeshir Mohammadi as saying imports from the US in the first half of this year totaled $79 million, a drop of 37 percent from the same period in 2009.
The report did not detail the items that made up the bulk of Iran's exports to the US, but they normally include carpets, caviar and pistachios.
