IDF chief of General Staff Benny Gantz has ordered that a battery of the Iron Dome counter-rocket defense system be deployed in the South in the coming days, the IDF spokesperson said in a statement released Friday.

The Iron Dome system will be part of the IDF's solution to the barrage of rockets fired into southern Israel from Gaza in the last week, the statement said.

The statement added that the placement of the battery will not be permanent but will move according to need.
