Israeli defense establishment officials told Israel Radio on Tuesday that the decision to cease the distribution of gas masks was made after it was determined that the probability of a chemical or biological attack was very low.

In light of Syrian disarmament of its chemical stockpiles, the Israeli government resolved to halt the distribution of gas masks, though defense officials said that they would revisit the matter if the situation required it.
