Israel to indict Golan Druze for building violations

Israeli authorities announced that indictments will be issued against senior members of the Druze community for building and zoning violations on the Golan Heights, according to Israel Radio.

In 2009, the Druze waqf in the Golan Heights began to build a large, new neighborhood on the slopes of Mt. Hermon near the village of Majdal Shams, however authorities ruled that the construction was done illegally. Local residents appealed to the High Court demanding that the construction be stopped, Israel Radio reported.
