Israel warmly welcomes the release from prolonged house arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, the pro-democracy leader who was released from house arrest by Myanmar's military government, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement read on Saturday.The statement went on to say that "Israel expresses hope that her walking free will constitute a first step for the advance of democratization and national reconciliation in Myanmar."
