Israel bolsters security measures ahead of Shavuot

Israeli security forces bolstered their presence with emphasis in Jerusalem and the capital's Old City ahead of the Jewish festival of Shavuot, celebrated from Tuesday to Wednesday evening, police said Monday.

Thousands of people were expected to hail to the Western Wall for prayers and celebrations marking the holiday.

Israel Police said its officers along with Border Police troops and special patrol units were due to be stationed across the country as part of standard security measures.
