Israeli tennis star Peer loses in QF in Katowice

Shahar Peer ranked 118 in the world and Israel's number one ranked female tennis player lost 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 to 177 ranked Alexandra Cadantu of Romania in the quarterfinals of the Katowice Open in Poland on Friday.

Peer reached the quarterfinals of a WTA tournament for the first time since January 2012 in Katowice.

Peer was playing in the tournament on Monday, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and whose grandparents are survivors of the Holocaust, marked the day by wearing a black ribbon on the right side of her shirt.
