A delegation of 10 Israeli water firms is on a five-day trip to Italy and Spain meeting with representatives of dozens of companies and government officials of both countries, the Economy Ministry said on Monday. The visit is being coordinated by the ministry's commercial attache's in both Milan and Madrid, in cooperation with the Israel Export Institute and Israel NewTech.

"In order to meet the standards of the European Union in the field of water treatment and to avoid paying fines, it is expected that Italy will spend in the next few years tens of billions of euros in the field of water," said Jonathan Hadar, commercial attache of the Economy Ministry in Italy. "As part of this, water companies of Italy and the district administrators are looking for innovative solutions from Israel."

The visit will begin in Milan, where the entrepreneurs will meet with companies from the province of Lombardy, followed by meetings with government officials in Bologna and Padua. Afterwards, the delegation will head to Barcelona for further discussions.
