Italy seizes 7 tons explosive en route from Iran to Syria

Seven tons of powerful RDX explosive apparently en route from Iran to Syria have been seized by Italian authorities on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

Italian anti-Mafia police found the cargo in a shipping container in the southern port of Gioia Tauro.

Also known as T4, RDX is a powerful high explosive and was designed to for military and industrial use.

Authorities believe that part of the cargo was intended to arrive in Italy, police sources said.
