J'lem police: Haredi demonstrations will be suspended during the holidays

Jerusalem Police District Commander Aharon Franco predicted on Wednesday that the Haredi demonstrations against the Carta parking lot opening on Shabbat will not take place over the period of the upcoming High Holidays. "The parking lot is a security asset and will remain open," he added. Some 200 protesters have been arrested so far in demonstrations against the parking lot opening, and of them 119 have been imprisoned. Thirty police officers have been injured in the clashes.
