US Secretary of State John Kerry told Channel 2 reporter Ilana Dayan on Thursday evening that Palestinians need to recognize Israel as Jewish state.

"Palestinians need to recognize Israel as Jewish state, both Obama and I have said this," he said.

Kerry added that he is an optimist and a "believer in the possibilities" when it comes to the peace process.
