Former president Moshe Katsav was set to leave Ma'asiyahu Prison for six hours on Tuesday evening in order to attend his grandson's Bar Mitzva.

Katsav, serving a seven year sentence for rape, was denied a request to leave the prison for 24 hours in order to attend the event.

The former prime minister received his first 24-hour furlough last month after having served a quarter of his sentence.
