Authorities at Ma'asiyahu Prison in Ramle have granted former president Moshe Katsav leave to exit jail for Passover eve on Friday, the Israel Prisons Service confirmed.
Katsav is currently serving a seven year sentence for a 2010 rape conviction.
The granting of leave for the former president came two weeks after the parole board rejected his request for early release. One of Katsav’s two lawyers, Zion Amir, told the press after the parole board’s denial that he would appeal the decision.
