The Knesset plenum on Wednesday decided unanimously that the Education Committee would hold a discussion of the Armenian genocide by Ottoman Turks, Israel Radio reported.

Israel does not currently acknowledge the killing of approximately one million Armenians during WWI as genocide.

MK Zahava Galon (Meretz) initiated the suggestion, saying that the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, who had been delegated to lead a discussion of the issue previously, had failed to do so.

The discussion is to be public and Armenians will be invited to attend.
