Knesset votes in favor of raising deficit target

The Knesset approved for first reading Finance Minister Yair Lapid's proposal to raise the deficit target, Israel Radio reported on Tuesday.

According to the proposal, the 2013 deficit target will be raised from 3% to 4.65% and the 2014 deficit target will be raised from 2.75% to 3%.

The Knesset's Finance Committee will discuss the proposal on Wednesday.
