Knife-wielding Palestinian thwarted from potential stabbing in east Jerusalem

Israeli forces thwarted a Palestinian man from carrying out an attempted stabbing attack at a security checkpoint leading to the Palestinian refugee camp of Shuafat in east Jerusalem, police reported.

According to police, the 21-year-old suspect brandished a knife from his belongings during security searches of his person after he arrived by bus to the entrance of the checkpoint.

Police forces immediately overcame the suspect and detained him at the scene. There were no injuries caused to the security forces or the suspect during the incident. Police have opened an investigation into the background and motives of the incident.
