Lapid departs for Paris after haredi draft row settled

Finance Minister Yair Lapid departed for Paris on Wednesday morning to attend a special OECD conference with other treasury heads, his spokesperson announced.
Earlier this week, Lapid had delayed his scheduled departure to France after a row erupted over the Peri Commission discussions on legislation that would require the ultra-Orthodox to serve in the military.
After the disagreement between Lapid’s Yesh Atid party and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud faction was settled this morning, Lapid set out for Paris as originally scheduled.
During the course of his stay in Paris, Lapid will also meet with the French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius.
