Finance Minister Yair Lapid on Tuesday criticized Israel's decision to confer the status of "state land" on 4,000 dunams in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank.

Speaking at a the Calcalist economic conference in Tel Aviv, Lapid asked, “What was this good for, of all times, now?”

He said that the move would needlessly anger the US and the EU.
