Justice Minister Tzipi Livni defended US Secretary of State John Kerry at the Hatnua weekly faction meeting on Monday.

"Warning a friend of an existing threat doesn't mean he's threatening us," she said, adding that  if Kerry's critics knew how much he's helped prevent actions against Israel, they'd be ashamed.

Recent criticism of Kerry stemmed from his warning over the weekend that Israel could be boycotted should the status quo continue in between Israelis and Palestinians.

Livni also said that recognition of the Palestinian right to a state must come from their recognition of the Jews' right to a state and security.
