Opposition leader Tzipi Livni on Wednesday evening slammed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the disastrous official response to the Carmel fires during a speech she delivered at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.

"Since the fire first broke out we have allowed the prime minister [full reign] to act," said Livni. She continued, "I have no doubt that the prime minister wanted to deal with disaster and to do the utmost to stop the fire. But then, we saw the management of events becoming [an exercise in] public relations and to a media performance."
